Slewing bearings in offshore applications

DV-B bearings are commonly used for various offshore projects, especially when building offshore wind parks. They also see use on drilling platforms, where they are used for the transport and handling of materials, such as drill rods and crane constructions.

These harsh maritime conditions favor the use of bearings with more than one raceway, such as double-row ball slewing bearings or triple-row roller slewing bearings. These robust bearings ensure a high degree of safety and are notable for their long lifespans and high plant availability.

Your bearing can be further protected against aggressive weather and sea conditions by installing an additional surface coating. Against extreme conditions we advise using multi-layered paint systems or a zinc flame-sprayed coating (e.g. ZINK PLUS).

It goes without saying that we offer a class certification with a 3.2 inspection certificate for all bearings used in offshore applications. We regularly work with a range of classification societies selected by our customers, for example Bureau Veritas (BV), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), American Bureau of Shipment (ABS), Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS), Lloyd’s Register of Shipping (LR).
